Seven steps, one workshop, one hand from start to finish.
It begins as Woolmark-certified fleece from New Zealand and the Atlas mountains, chosen for staple length, resilience, and the way it holds color. Numbered wool cards are tested for strength and fastness before a single skein reaches the loom.
Natural colors as much as possible. Dozens of dye combinations are tested, multiple suppliers compared, until the tone is right and the fiber stays alive. Bundles travel from the dye house to the workshop the same day.
Each rug begins as a drawing. The design card is pinned above the loom and follows the rug row by row, so the weaver never loses the thread of the composition.
In Khenifra, on traditional wooden looms, our weavers knot each rug by hand. Months of patient work, one row at a time, at a density that only the human hand can hold. A blend of New Zealand wool and Moroccan Bouyblane gives the pile its depth and its life.
Every rug is washed at the open-air washing zone between Khenifra and Mrirt, with fiber-friendly methods and no chemical shortcuts. This is the step that softens the wool for a generation.
After washing, every rug travels to a sunlit courtyard and dries on hand-hewn wooden racks. The warming blanket of the Moroccan sun is the last hand the rug feels before yours.
The rug is cut down from the loom, sheared by hand to level the pile, and inspected knot by knot before it leaves Morocco. Nothing ships until every hand in the studio has signed off.
