We're Naila and Hichame – two pharmacists from the north of France, with Algerian and Moroccan roots, now living in New York.
We missed the joy, warmth, and loud, happy chaos of home – the kind of homes where people sit, talk, laugh, and share life on rugs.
One day, Naila said: "What if we created rugs that feel like that – like a piece of home?"
Hichame jumped in right away. As husband and wife, we decided to turn that idea into an adventure called Azral.
We didn't want rugs to be just "something soft on the floor."
Our vision is simple:
A rug should be a statement.
The kind of piece that makes people stop, smile, and ask: "Where did you get this?"
Azral rugs are meant to bring warmth, character, and conversation into your home. They're not background decor – they're the soul of the room.

To make Azral real, we went straight to the source: the Moroccan mountains.
We met rug makers in their workshops, shared tea, listened to their stories, and learned every step of the craft – from pattern design, to wool selection, dyeing, weaving, and washing.
Our goal was clear: work only with the best artisans we could find, and understand the value chain from start to finish.
Back in New York (and on every flight in between), Naila started designing rugs.
She drew hundreds of ideas – some good, some terrible, and a few that were just magical.
We tested the designs with friends and family, asked which ones they couldn't stop thinking about, and kept only the strongest, boldest patterns.
Those sketches became the starting point of our first Azral collection.

Then came the colors and the wool.
We chose natural tones as much as possible – colors that feel warm, timeless, and easy to live with every day.
For the wool, we went all in:
– A blend of New Zealand wool and Bouyblane wool (one of the highest-quality wools in Morocco).
– Wool taken respectfully from live animals, with extra care for their wellbeing.
– Only the top of the fleece, the part protected from damage, used in our rugs.
The result? Wool that's incredibly soft, dense, and built to last.
Washing is one of the most crucial steps in a rug's life.
We tested dozens of washing methods with our partners to find the one that:
– Respects the wool
– Preserves the colors
– And makes the texture feel rich, full, and luxurious under your feet
We're obsessed with this step because it's where the rug truly comes to life.

After months of sketches, mountains, wool, colors, tests, and a lot of tea…
We ended up with our first collection of 19 rugs – each one made with:
– Exceptional wool quality
– Thoughtful, bold designs
– And the idea that a rug can be a lifelong piece of art, not just something you walk on.
Every Azral rug has character in each fiber – unique, warm, and made to live with you for years.
