How long does it take to receive my handwoven Moroccan rug?
Delivery time depends on availability. In Stock rugs ship from our New York warehouse and arrive within 3 weeks via insured ground freight. Made-to-order rugs are individually handwoven by our artisan partners in Khenifra, Morocco and take 16 to 22 weeks from order confirmation to delivery: roughly 14 to 18 weeks of weaving, washing, and finishing, plus 2 to 4 weeks of insured international shipping and customs clearance. You'll receive progress updates and tracking once your rug ships.
Do you ship internationally?
We currently offer free insured shipping anywhere in the United States, typically delivered within 3 weeks for In Stock pieces. International shipping is rolling out soon, if you're outside the US, contact us with your address and the rug you're interested in and we'll provide a custom shipping quote, including duties and customs handling, and arrange door-to-door delivery.
Do you offer custom rug sizing?
Yes. We can weave rugs in virtually any size or proportion you need, including runners, oversized formats, and non-rectangular layouts. Custom orders typically add 2 to 4 weeks to the standard production timeline, and pricing scales with square footage and design complexity. Contact us with your desired dimensions, color palette, and any inspiration photos and we'll send a personalized quote within a few business days.
The Rugs
What materials are used in your handwoven wool rugs?
Every rug is made from 100% Woolmark-certified wool, a blend of premium New Zealand wool for softness and resilience and Bouyblane wool sourced from the Middle Atlas region of Morocco for its long staple length and natural luster. Rugs are woven on traditional vertical looms in Khenifra using Amazigh (Berber) techniques passed down through generations of weaver families. No synthetic fibers, no plastic backing.
What makes each rug unique?
Every Azral rug is a Mrirt rug, handwoven by a single master artisan using centuries-old Amazigh techniques, no two are ever identical. Subtle variations in knot density, slight asymmetry in the borders, gentle color shifts between dye lots, and the occasional irregularity in pattern are inherent to handmade work, not defects. These small differences are the signature of the loom and the weaver, and they're what make your rug one-of-a-kind.
Are your Moroccan rugs safe for homes with pets and children?
Yes. Our rugs use only 100% wool fibers with no synthetic backings, glues, or VOC-emitting finishes, so they're safe for babies who crawl and for pets that lie directly on them. Wool is naturally flame-resistant and hypoallergenic, and the dense hand-knotted weave stands up well to high-traffic areas. We strongly recommend pairing every rug with a natural rubber or felt rug pad to prevent slipping and to extend the life of the rug.
Can I see the rugs in person before ordering?
If you're in the New York City area, we can arrange a private in-person viewing so you can feel the wool, see the colors in your own lighting conditions, and compare sizes before you commit. For clients outside New York, we send detailed video walk-arounds, close-up macro photos of the weave, and physical wool color samples on request. Contact us to schedule a viewing or request samples.
Care
How do I care for my handwoven wool rug?
Vacuum weekly on low suction with the beater bar disabled (a suction-only or hard-floor setting), and never vacuum the fringe, brush or shake it out by hand instead. Rotate the rug 180° every 6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear it evenly. Blot spills immediately with a clean white cloth working from the outside in, never rub, and use cool water only. Professional hand-washing every 12 to 18 months will keep the wool's natural lanolin intact. Keep the rug out of prolonged direct sunlight to prevent fading. See our Care page for the complete guide.
Policies
What is your returns and refunds policy?
Every Azral rug is handwoven to order specifically for you and sold as one-of-a-kind handmade art. All sales are final, we do not accept returns, exchanges, or cancellations once weaving has begun, except where required by applicable law. Rugs are sold "as is," and the natural variations of handweaving (minor pattern irregularities, subtle color nuances, slight dimensional differences, fringe character) are the signature of authentic Amazigh craft, not defects. If your rug arrives with shipping damage, contact us promptly with photos and your order number and we'll work with you and the carrier to resolve it. See the full Sales Policy page for details.
What is your sales policy?
All sales are final. Every Azral rug is handwoven individually, most are made to order specifically for you, and represents a unique, non-resaleable work of art. Because of this, we don't accept returns or exchanges once an order is confirmed. We strongly encourage you to contact us before purchasing with questions about size, color, pile height, or suitability for your room. We're happy to send additional photos, video, and sizing guidance to make sure the piece is right for your space before you commit.
