At Azral, every rug is designed, sourced, woven, washed, and quality-checked with a level of control rarely found in the traditional rug market. From wool selection to final washing, we work closely with local partners to create rugs that are softer, denser, more durable, and more traceable.
Azral uses a blend of New Zealand wool and carefully selected Bouyblane wool — considered one of the finest wool sources in Morocco. Fiber is selected from living animals and from the areas of the body where quality is best preserved, maintaining softness, strength, and structural integrity across the life of the rug.
Azral rugs are woven with approximately 400 knots per 10 cm², producing a denser structure that is noticeably softer underfoot, more resistant to wear, and longer-lasting. The higher knot count also allows for finer pattern detail.
After weaving, Azral rugs undergo a proprietary natural washing process that uses minimal chemical intervention. This preserves the wool's inherent softness, natural lustre, and color depth — rather than standardizing it with heavy processing.
Azral does not purchase finished rugs from the souk. We work directly with local production partners and test quality on the ground — before any rug is prepared for export. This gives us meaningful oversight at every step.
Every Azral rug is an original design, created by the brand's co-CEO. The designs draw on Amazigh visual heritage while speaking to contemporary interiors — creating something with a distinct artistic identity rather than a generic market pattern.
Azral aims to maintain oversight across the full value chain: wool sourcing, weaving, washing, quality testing, finishing, and export preparation. This gives our customers greater transparency and confidence in what they are investing in.
